A Step by Step Guide

Setting up emails Using the Email Application on an Android Device (v2)

Before you start you will need your Email Address, Password and the Incoming & Outgoing Server Details.

Please ensure that you enter these details at all times correctly. The email address should be entered in lower-case (no capital letters), the Password will be a mixture of Capitals, Lower Case and Numbers, & the Incoming and Outgoing Server details should be entered in lower-case (no capital letters).

Stage One

First we need to find the Application on the phone or tablet which you wish to install the Email Account(s) on. Here is our example.

There are Multiple versions of this software so please make sure your App looks like this image.

Stage Two

If this is the first time using the Application you will be presented with this screen.

You can now Skip to Stage Four, missing Stage Three.

Stage Three

If you have used the Email App before, and have emails installed already, you will be be brought to your inbox.

You need to click on the Three Lines in the Top Left, then on the next screen the Cog and then on the next screen click on Add Account.

Stage Four

You now need to select Other at the bottom of the screen.

Stage Five

You now need to enter your email address & password. Please make sure you are very careful when entering your email address all in lower case (no capital letters), and your password carefully with any Capital letters & Numbers.

After entering both correctly press MANUAL SETUP.

Stage Six

You now need to select IMAP at the bottom of the screen, ensuring you do not press POP3. This is a very important step.

Stage Seven

The next stage is all on one long screen, so to start with you should scroll to the top where we begin.

Both the Email Address & User Name are the same, and should be entered in lowercase (no capital letters).

The Password must be entered very carefully, paying close attention to any Capital letters and Numbers.

You now need to enter the Incoming Server Settings.

The IMAP server/incoming mail server, will have been provided to you; it should look like this: imap.example.com and should be entered in lowercase (no capital letters).

The Security type should be changed to SSL, and the Port should be 993.

The IMAP path prefix is to be left empty.

You now need to enter the Outgoing Server Settings.

The SMTP server/outgoing mail server, will have been provided to you; it should look like this: smtp.example.com and should be entered in lowercase (no capital letters).

The Security type should be changed to SSL, and the Port should be >465.

The User Name is your email address, and should be entered in lowercase (no capital letters).

The Password must be entered very carefully, paying close attention to any Capital letters and Numbers.

Once Completed please click Sign In at the bottom and then you should be automatically directed to your new email inbox – CONGRATULATIONS!
